PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball valve reducing the noises caused by running water to a desired level by closing the flow of a fluid in an area of noise generation, and to further reduce generation of turbulence and eddy of the fluid as much as possible. SOLUTION: In this ball valve to open/close a flow path by forming a flow path opening in a ball 12, and providing the ball 12 in a rotatable manner in the ball valve with the ball pressed against a pair of annular seats 13a, 13b, the initial quantity of openings of one annular seat 13b and the ball 12 is increased with the boundary for closing the flow path approximately parallel to each other, while openings of the other annular seat 13a and the ball 12 are constantly opened.
