PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid bad manners or practical danger by suppressing the function of electronic equipment such as a portable telephone set in a specified area such as inside a train. SOLUTION: When the electronic equipment enters a function suppressing area, a control signal transmitted at a fixed interval is received inside the area, the time counting by a timer means 12 is started and the function of a terminal function means 14 is suppressed by a function suppressing means 13. The time counting by the timer means 12 is restarted every time the control signal is received, and while the electronic equipment stays inside the function suppressing area, the suppression of the function is continued by the control signal transmitted at the fixed interval. When the electronic equipment gets out of the area, the control signal is not received any more and simultaneously the time counting by the timer means 12 is finished, the suppression of the function of the terminal function means 14 is canceled by the function suppressing means 13.
