PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a structure which suitably utilizes high-frequency discharge by installing an address electrode and a data electrode closely and high-frequency electrodes in parallel and securing a distance where the vibration motion of electrons are not interfered by the distance between the high-frequency electrodes. SOLUTION: Between an upper substrate 30 and a lower substrate 40, a partition wall 42 which is formed vertically is arranged segmenting a cell. Discharging gas is injected into the discharge space 54 formed by the upper substrate 30, lower substrate 40, and partition wall 50, i.e., the cell. A 1st high- frequency electrode 32 is formed of transparent electrode substance on the upper substrate 30 perpendicularly to the address electrode 42. A 2nd high-frequency electrode 46 is formed on the lower substrate 40 in the same direction with the 1st high-frequency electrode 32, i.e., orthogonally to the address electrode 42. Those high-frequency electrodes 32 and 46 cause high-frequency discharge with a high-frequency signal supplied in a discharge sustaining period, i.e., a sustaining period. |
