PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer and set information characteristic of a data processing device (device-characteristic information) to a maintaining device to be exchanged while keeping security in the case of generating a fault in the device processing data based on held device-characteristic information concerning the setting device of device-characteristic information. SOLUTION: A data processor including a central processing unit and a writable/readable nonvolatile memory holding device-characteristic information is provided with a connector 21 connecting a bus line to a power supplying line and a transferring part 23 outputting the address of the nonvolatile memory 5b of an external device of the same constitution as that of the processor onto a bus and reading device-characteristic information from the memory 5b to write in its own nonvolatile memory 5a. The data processors of above constitution are connected through a connector 21 and the data processor on a power supplying side reads device-characteristic information stored in the memory 5b of the data processor of a connecting destination to store and set the read information in the memory 5a of its own device.
