PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently prevent internal reflection even in the case of inclined use by laminating a linearly polarizing plate and a phase difference plate in such a manner that the absorption axis or transmission axis of the former and the phase delay axis or phase advance axis of the latter attain a specific angle. SOLUTION: This circularly polarizing plate is constituted by laminating the linear polarizing plate and the phase difference plate. The circularly polarizing plate 1 is disposed by inclining the absorption axis 3 or transmission axis of the linear polarizing plate as the axis of rotation at the angleθ1 with incident light. The angle formed by the axis of rotation and the phase delay axis of the phase difference plate is set within a range of±1 deg. ofαwhich is the value calculated by the equationα=f(θ1)×(Nz-0.5)+α0. In the equation, f(θ1) is the value calculated by f(θ1)=0.0039 fθ12×sin(2α0) and Nz is the value calculated by NZ=(nx-nz)/(nx-ny), whereα0 denotes the angle formed by the axis of rotation of the linear polarizing plate which is the axis of rotation when the circularly polarizing plate 1 is constituted with respect to the incident light from the normal axis direction and the phase delay axis of the phase difference plate and nx denotes the refractive indices in the phase delay axis direction of the phase difference plate, ny in the phase advance axis direction and nozzle in the thickness of the phase difference plate, respectively.
