PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sliding durability and to decrease the coefft. of friction between a magnetic head and a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: A lubricant layer 15 is formed on the surface of a solid protective layer 14 of a magnetic recording medium 1, and org. polymers having >=1×105 mol.wt. are dispersed in the lubricant layer 15. Since a magnetic head touches the surface of the solid protective film layer through the particles of the org. polymers in the lubricant layer 15, direct contact between solid surfaces can be prevented. Therefore, wear on the magnetic head surface and on the magnetic recording medium surface can be suppressed and the coefft. of friction can be decreased.
