PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing unit that applies thinning processing to a pixel, with a simple configuration for suppressing production of false colors and to conduct signal processing corresponding to reproduction of dynamic images and to provide its signal processing method. SOLUTION: A block sampling section 12a of a signal processing section 12 treats plural Bayer pattern pixels as one block under the control of a system control section 13 to divide a color filter pattern in a direction horizontal to sample data fed from each pixel of the block used for display. The data are sampled at each pixel position corresponding to the block to decrease the sampling frequency to a half of that of a conventional processing unit. A representative value calculation section 120b in a display data generating section 12b uses data of plural pixels obtained by the block sampling section 12a to calculate a pixel value in an RGB color in this block as to one pixel respectively. A YC conversion section 122b uses the calculated pixel value to calculate display data with respect to one pixel and to suppress false color or the like.
