Organic peroxide solutions are rendered concentratable by contacting with an ion exchange resin of the strong acid type at approximately room temperature, said peroxide being a peroxide of a cyclic alcohol, removing said resin and recovering said peroxide solution. The ion exchange resins to be employed are crosslinked polystyrenes, usually with divinyl benzene as cross-linking agent, containing sulphonic acid groups. In examples cyclohexanol is oxidized with oxygen and the product treated ion-exchange resin and concentrated under reduced pressure. Apparatus for carrying out the process is described with reference to Figs. 1-3 (not shown). |
