DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPH FINISHING SYSTEM CONTAINING DIGITAL PICTURE PROCESSING OF FILM EXPOSURE LACKING GAMMA SCENE BALANCE AND PICTURE VISUALIZATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a superior picture through the use of digital printing by increasing the exposure lacking gamma of the digital color picture through the use of medium exposure lacking gamma control algorithm, processing the digital picture through the use of scene balance algorithm and mapping the balanced picture through the use of the characteristic curve of a hard copy medium. SOLUTION: A digital scanner 12 scans a picture on a photograph medium and a digital picture is generated. A picture data manager 18 decides the set of shift values in the digital color picture which is sub-sampled by using scene balance algorithm after conversion to printing gray level and exposure lacking gamma is increased by using medium exposure lacking gamma control algorithm. In the complete digital color picture, exposure lacking gamma is increased by using medium exposure lacking gamma control algorithm. The balanced picture is mapped on a whole color printing paper characteristic curve.
