PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a sharp video image without lighting a light, even when the lightness of a ray from an object is low at night time or the like. SOLUTION: When a video signal S1 obtained by picking up an image of an object with a CCD element 11 of a camera slave set 1 is inputted to an arithmetic unit 16 as a digital photometry signal S3 via an integration circuit 14 and an A/D converter 15, the arithmetic unit controls the operation of a timing generator 13 to control the exposure speed of a shutter of the CCD element in a succeeding field and outputs vertical synchronization data S13, S13' including an exposure speed state of the shutter to a data modulator 17. An arithmetic unit 26 of a master set 2 receiving the vertical synchronization data S13, S13' via a data demodulator 25 controls the operation of a timing generator 24 to write/read the video signal via a field memory 22 and a display device 23 displays the image.
