The method involves monitoring connections of a radio interface between mobile stations (MS1, MS2) and at least one base station (BS1) of a communications network (PLMN). A mobile listening device (VS) is looped into the connection between the mobile station to be monitored and the base station, which is associated with the subscriber related data (vsimsi) and locality related data (vslai). The subscriber related data (imsi) and the locality related data (lai) of the mobile station are replaced by the mobile listening device at a connection request (vreq), through its subscriber and locality related data. The data of the connection from the mobile listening device to the communications network is enciphered, and the connection from the mobile station remains uncoded for monitoring the connection.
