N-mono- and N,N'-disubstituted perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarbodiimides (I) with amino(cyclo)alkyl, amino(cyclo)alkylamino(cyclo)alkyl or amino(cyclo)alkoxy(cyclo)alkyl substituent(s) are new. N-mono- and N,N'-disubstituted perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarbodiimides (I), with amino(cyclo)alkyl, amino(cyclo)alkylamino(cyclo)alkyl or amino(cyclo)alkoxy(cyclo)alkyl substituent(s), of formula (A) are new; Q = N-Z; Q<1> = N-Z<1>; Z<1> = group of formula (IIA); -(X-Y)q-(X<1>-Y<1>)r-(X<2>-NH)sH (IIA) Z = Z<1>, Z<2> or Z<3>; Z<2> = group of formula (IIB); -(X-O)q1-(X<1>-O)qH (IIB) Z<3> = H, OH, amino or 1-8C alkyl, which may have 1-4 substituents selected from Cl, Br, CN, OH, phenyl (C6H5), carbamoyl, 1-4C acyl, 1-4C alkoxy and NR<2>R<3> or is perfluorinated or partly fluorinated; X, X<1>, X<2> = branched or linear 2-6C alkylene or 5-7C cycloalkylene, optionally mono- to tetra-substituted by 1-4C (hydroxy)alkyl and/or OH and/or mono- or di-substituted by 5-7C cycloalkyl; Y, Y<1> = O or optionally substituted imino (-NH- or -N(1-6 C alkyl)-); q, q1, r, s = 1-6; one of r, s may = 0; s not = 0 if Y<1> = O; R<2>, R<3> = H or a 1-20C alkyl or 2-20C alkenyl group, which may be substituted by OH, phenyl, CN, Cl, Br, 2-4C aryl or 1-4C alkoxy or (per)fluorinated; or NR<2>R<3> = an (un)saturated or aromatic heterocycle, optionally with another ring N, O or S atom. Independent claims are also included for (a) pigment formulations containing organic basic pigment(s), pigment dispersant(s) of formula (A); Q, Q<1> = N-Z; Z = Z<1> or Z<2> or one Z = Z<3> and optionally a high molecular organic material; (b) the production of these formulations; and (c) the preparation of (I).
