Process and apparatus for producing fibrillation on textile webs containing mainly regenerated cellulose fibers comprises: (a) printing or impregnating the whole or a patterned area of the open breadth with hydrolyzing chemicals on one or both sides; (b) hydrolysis by heating; (c) washing the chemicals out and optional neutralization; and (d) mechanical treatment of the damp surface in the warp direction with a textile roller surface.
