The device has an image processing device, a camera, an analysis unit and a carrier (1) for positioning the workpiece (3). The carrier has at least one marking (6a-6c) to act as a reference point for determination of the desired workpiece co-ordinates and a contact surface (10) for the workpiece. The co-ordinates of the marking points are at least partially stored in a memory.
