A transmitter module (20) input (28) is connected to the digital output (16) of the signal source (12). Its two outputs (36, 38) produce pulse trains (S, R, Sbar, Rbar) as a function of the original digital signal (Uorig). When the digital signal (Uorig) has a rising edge, a signal is produced at the first output (36), when it has a falling edge, a signal is produced at the second output (38). A line pair (24, 26) connects respective transmitter outputs (36, 38) to corresponding receiver inputs (40, 42). The receiver output (30) is connected to a signal sink (14) input (18). The receiver outputs a reconstituted digital signal (Urek) as a function of the pulse sequences (S, R; Sbar, Rbar). This corresponds with the original signal (Uorig).
