The steering angle sensor is designed, so that a scanning of the second coding (C2) of the rotor (11) of the second sensor unit, is provided inside an angle segment (22) from the entire steering wheel rotation range. Whilst the rotor of the second sensor unit is coupled with an only small reduction-increasing ratio as the rotation movement of the rotor (12) of the first sensor unit. The rotation of the rotor over the entire steering wheel rotational range has a small rotation angle displacement, related to the total steering wheel rotation range between the rotor and the rotor. The coding of the rotor of the second sensor unit is movable, inside the steering wheel rotational range asynchronously, for the coding (C1) of the rotor of the first sensor unit. The same scanning information of the first sensor unit in the individual angle segment is assigned a different scanning data to the second sensor unit.
