An exhaust component for treating exhaust gas is provided. The exhaust component includes first and second end caps (18, 20), an inner shell (30) coupled to the first and second end caps (18, 20), and an outer shell (32) coupled to the first and second end caps (18, 20). A channel (84) is defined between the inner shell (30) and one of the first and second end caps (18, 20). A portion (80) of the outer shell (32) is positioned in the channel (84) to move longitudinally through the channel (84) relative to the inner shell (30). The outer shell (32) includes a notch (64) that is spaced apart from the inner shell (30). The notch (64) is configured to change shape to permit the outer shell (32) to move circumferentially relative to the inner shell (30).
