A salt making apparatus capable of efficiently boiling down brine and collecting salt without requiring a large installation space, whereby, by using a plurality of boilers (2-1 to 2-10) disposed in stages in a vertical direction, brine inside the boilers in all the stages is simultaneously boiled with a high-temperature steam flowing inside a steam piping (3) of each boiler, water is poured from a boiler (2-2) in the next upper stage whenever the water level of a boiler in the lowermost stage (2-1) drops by a predetermined quantity, and the drops of the water levels of boilers in the other stages are similarly supplemented by pouring water from boilers in the next upper stages so that brine can be boiled down always inside the boiler (2-1) in the lowermost stage at a boiling temperature and moreover, the salt from the boilers in the upper stages is successively built up to obtain brine of increasingly higher concentration.
