<p>A solid sustained release pharmaceutical composition comprising a compressed mixture of a pharmacologically active ingredient and a sustained release carrier comprising xanthan gum characterised in that the xanthan gum is capable of dissolving in water at a concentration of 1 part by weight xanthan gum to 100 parts by weight water to form a solution having a transmittance (600 nm) of greater than 50 %. The clarified xanthan gum has an improved reproducibility in drug dissolution.</p> |
