The sliding vehicle seat has a longitudinal floor rail (20) and a sliding seat rail (22), with a hollow channel (28) formed between the guides (26). At least one support (32) is at one rail, across the sliding adjustment, and is within the hollow channel so that, on a frontal collision impact, there is no side contraction of the cross section of the other rail. The support (32) is pref. at the floor rail (20), especially at the trailing end zone.
