PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a high quality printing without position shift even when an image drawing region in a recording medium is expanded or contracted. SOLUTION: A size detecting section 22 detects a size of an image drawing region on which drawing of an image is performed on a recording paper S by a printing section at the previous stage, then expansion and contraction quantities P, Q in a main scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction are obtained based on the size. An address control section 24a outputs fudged one pixel of image data when outputting the image data at a predetermined pixel position in the case where the drawing region is expanded in the main scanning direction. On the other hand, the address control section 24a does not output the image data at the predetermined pixel position and executes thinning of one pixel of the image data in the case where the drawing region is contracted in the main scanning direction. An image drawing control section 24b sets an interval of a drawing clock CLK to be applied to an image drawing head 21 long in the case where the image drawing region is expanded in the sub- scanning direction and sets it short in the case where the image drawing region is contracted in the sub-scanning direction.
