PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationally control illuminance inside a store in response to illuminance outside the store. SOLUTION: This illumination controller 2 for a store is suitable for a store 1 such as a convenience store, in particular the illumination controller 2 for a store opened for 24 hours every day. Illuminance owing to a luminaire 5 inside the store 1 is automatically regulated in the controller 2 by an in-store illuminance sensor 3 for detecting illuminance inside the store 1 and an out-store illuminance sensor 4 for detecting illuminance outside the store 1, and the illuminance by the luminaire 5 is reduced according to reduction of the illuminance outside the store 1. For typical example, the illuminance due to the luminaire 5 inside the sotre 1 is made about 700-800 lux during a day time, and is made about 400-600 lux during a night time. Ratio of the day time illuminance/the night time illuminance due to the luminaire 5 inside the store 1 is made 0.5-0.75, saying in another point of view.
