<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable liquid crystal display device wide in viewing angle, high in contrast and capable of assigning intensity level by realizing the stable and excellent alignment of liquid crystal in pixel parts. SOLUTION: Pixel electrodes 7 and TFTs(thin film transistors) 15 connected to the pixel electrodes 7 are arranged in matrix, a protecting film composed of an insulating material covers TFT 15 and a non-displaying part of the pixel electrode 7, the first alignment layer 9 covers the protecting film 8 and a displaying part of the pixel electrode 7, antiferroelectric liquid crystal 14 is held between the first and the second alignment layers 9, 13 and the displaying part of the pixel electrode 7 has a recessed structure.</p> |
