PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bobbin inspection method for a filament yarn package capable of detecting defects such as scratch and breakage of a bobbin stably without recognizing them erroneously and performing their processing at a high speed. SOLUTION: In this bobbin inspection method for a filament yarn package, the filament yarn package in which a yarn winding body 1 is formed on a bobbin 2 is arranged at a predetermined measuring position, a distance between each measuring point of the bobbin 2 and a measurement reference position set in advance is measured by a displacement measuring means 5 within a scope requiring the inspection of a defect to obtain pattern information having one-to-one corresponding relation between each measuring point and a measurement distance corresponding to it, the obtained pattern information is compared with a normal pattern prepared in advance to judge that there is no defect, and if the obtained pattern information does not agree with the normal pattern, it is judged that the bobbin 2 has a defect.
