PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device and a method for shimming the main magnetic field of a magnetic resonance contrasting device. SOLUTION: A radio frequency pulse sequence 200 is generated during the presence of an object in the inspecting area of the magnetic resonance contrasting device. Then, a reference signal EC1 without a shim error is obtained. After that, a field echo signal EC3a being acute as against the shim error is obtained. The field echo signal EC3a is obtained by the time interval T of the multiple of a time till fat and water signals become the same phase. The max. arid temporary position of the field echo signal is compared with the temporary position EC3 which is predicted as against the reference signal EC1. A shim term is calculated based or the comparison, a current is made to flow in one grade offset and a shim coil and the main magnetic field is adjusted in accordance with the shim term.
