PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker which reduces the waiting electric power of a display section. SOLUTION: This rice cooker is provided with an operating section 2 to put information, a display section 3 to display rice cooking information, a heating section 4 to heat cooking rice, a control section 5 to execute rice cooking by the on/off control of the display section 3 and energizing control of the heating section 4, a synchronous signal generating section 6 to generate signals synchronizing with the commercial power source, and a waiting state detecting section 7 to detect the waiting state of the apparatus by a signal from the control section 5. A rice cooker which can reduce the waiting power can be provided by light-off of the display section 3 in a waiting state by a signal from the waiting state detecting section 7.
