PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the image read/write integral head that is manufactured at an advantageous cost with excellent working efficiency and realizes miniaturization of the image processing unit and to provide the image processing unit provided with it. SOLUTION: The image read/write integral head X is provided with a longitudinally cut board 4 that is mounted to cover an opening 15 formed at a lower part of a case 1 and on which plural light receiving elements 4a and plural heat generating elements 4b are mounted. In this case, the board 4 is fitted to the case 1 so that a part near one side 42 in the width direction is projected from the case 1, and each heat generating element 4b on an upper face 40 at the projected part 42 is mounted in an array extended in the longitudinal direction and the light receiving elements 4a are mounted on the upper face 40 at the part near the other side 43 of the board 4 in an array extended in the longitudinal direction, and a light source 3 and a drive IC6 driving the heat generating elements 4b are placed between the array of the heat generating elements 4b and the array of the light receiving elements on a same or nearly a same straight line extended in the longitudinal direction of the board 4.
