PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a signal reproducing device in which a user can intuitively know a current signal reproducing position and a distance till a target signal reproducing position by updating the displaying of the current position on the total length of a tape successively. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 4 detects a current signal reproducing position being on a tape cassette 1 and also reads information concerning the total length of a signal file and a target position from the semiconductor memory (so called memory in cassette; MIC) attached to tape cassette 1 and compares the current position with the target position to calculate the difference between them and it displays the current position and the distance on a display device 7 so that the user can easily confirm them.
