PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously attain coordinate display and character input by moving a cursor on a screen to a direction substantially matched with the operating direction of a finger calculated from the output of a pointing device corresponding to the operation of the finger to the pointing device. SOLUTION: When a cursor 61 is displayed on a CRT 6, the input of coordinates is operated by following a contact part 71 with a thumb. The coordinates of the thumb brought into contact with the contact part 71 is inputted to a register 41 by a control circuit 72 of a digitizer 7. The coordinates (X, Y) recorded in a register 41 are inputted to a register 42 by a sampling clock generating circuit 45. The value of the register 42 is inputted through a transfer control circuit 43 to a register 44 by the next clock. When the thumb is moved on the contact part 71, the different coordinates (X', Y') on the different contact part 71 are inputted to the register 42 according to the clock transmitting time of the sampling clock generating circuit.
