PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the proper coloring when the image processing such as a shadowing, a partial remove are performed by modifying an image by extracting independently each color information from the read multivalued image data, synthesizing the stored color information and performing a logical operation between the arithmetic result obtained by applying a matrix logical operation to the synthesized color information and this extracted color information to obtain a processed image. SOLUTION: The color data are set at the data registers 160C and 161 in a color synthesizing circuit. A control register 162 selects the image data or the color data obtd. from the register 160C via a color conversion selector 170C. Meanwhile, the processing of a mode selector 173C is varied by the register 162. Furthermore, it's decided whether an entire circuit is operated or not by a control line of a processing selector 172C. When an OFF state of the circuit is set by the selector 172C, the image data are outputted via the selector 172C.
