PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording head and an ink-jet recording apparatus wherein dielectric breakdown of a piezoelectric layer is prevented and durability is improved. SOLUTION: This recording head has at least a lower electrode 60, a piezoelectric layer 70 and an upper electrode 80 at an area corresponding to a pressure generation chamber 12 communicating with a nozzle opening. In this case, the piezoelectric layer 70 is formed within an area opposite to the pressure generation chamber 12, and an interlayer insulating film 65 is set between electrodes led outside from the upper electrode 80 and lower electrode 60 opposite to the piezoelectric layer 70. The piezoelectric layer 70 is thus prevented from breaking.
