INK-JET PRINTER AND METHOD FOR COMPENSATING FOR MALFUNCTIONING AND INOPERATIVE INK NOZZLE AT PRINT HEAD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a method for compensating for nozzles in an inoperative state at a print head. SOLUTION: A printer 10 has a print head 40 and a plurality of nozzles 50 formed to the print head 40. At least one of the nozzles 50 is probably inoperative and at least the other of the nozzles 50 is operating. A detecting system is connected to the nozzles, thereby detecting the inoperative nozzle 50. A computer 90 is connected to the detecting system and reassigns a printing function of the inoperative nozzle to the operating nozzle, so that appropriate output images can be printed even when some of the nozzles are inoperative.
