PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering metals from solutions under controlled conditions, a method for maintaining a high current density for a long period of time, especially without undesired side-reactions and a method capable of maintaining a recovery process of metals with a high current efficiency even when chemical conditions are changed during operation. SOLUTION: A method for controlling a metal recovering process in which a metal is deposited on a cathode 6 from a solution flowing in electrolytic cell 2 is comprised of the steps of monitoring the variation of either (a) current or (b) potential difference between the cathode 6 and an anode 4, caused by the variation of the metal concentration and modifying either (a) current or (b) potential according to the variation detected by the monitoring mentioned above.
