IMAGE RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE AND ITS DATA DISPLAY METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a display screen from being soiled by the OSD display by switching the types of control data which are recorded and reproduced via a recording medium according to the type of this recording medium when the control data are recorded and reproduced and also switching the display types of control data to turn off the display as for the control data which are never recorded nor reproduced together with an image pickup signal. SOLUTION: A control part 11 controls a recording/reproducing part 5 based on a operation input and then displays the control data which are reproduced from a magnetic tape on a display part 6 by receiving the operation input by a data code button 12 in a reproduction operation mode that the magnetic tape is reproduced at the part 5 in a VTR mode. The part 11 also displays the control data which are reproduced from a memory card 10 on the part 6 when the operation input of the button 12 is received in a memory reproduction operation mode that the card 10 is reproduced in a memory mode. Meanwhile, the control data which are never recorded nor reproduced are not displayed.
