PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coating compositions capable of being readily checked and controlled with respect to the thickness of coats and accordingly, sharply shortening the time conventionally required for control of the thickness of coats to achieve drastic reductions in the coating cost. SOLUTION: This coating composition comprises a bisphenol type epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of 150-1,000, a curing agent composed of a polyamidoamine or the like, a color pigment in an amount of 0.3-5 wt.% (in terms of solids content) and a light transmitting inorganic filler in an amount of 25-50 vol.% (filler volumetric concentration) or a coating composition comprises a polyol and/or a polythiol, a polyisocyanate based curing agent, a color pigment in an amount of 0.3-5 wt.% and a light transmitting inorganic filler in an amount of 25-50 vol.%, and the opacifying ratio at a desired dry coat thickness t0μm (wherein t0 is 100-300) of this coating composition is not less than 0.94 to less than 1 and that at a dry coat thickness t0/2μm is 0.07-0.90. A heavy-gage anticorrosive coat is composed of this composition.
