PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic easy to scoop up with a finger, capable of preventing particle sedimentation, having thixotropic properties and good in feeling of use at a suitable viscosity without increasing the fluidity even at a high temperature by using a polyhydric alcohol and a particulate metal oxide in combination. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains (A) a polyhydric alcohol and (B) a particulate metal oxide (preferably the one having 10-1,000 m2/g specific surface area and <=1μm particle diameter, specifically aluminum oxide or titanium oxide) without substantially containing water and preferably further contains (C) an activated zeolite. The weight ratio of the ingredients A to B is preferably (100:1) to (2:1) of the ingredients A:B. For example, propylene glycol is preferably used as the ingredient A. The amounts of the formulated ingredients in the whole composition are preferably 1-95 wt.% of the ingredient A and 0.1-50 wt.% of the ingredient B.
