PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease dye contamination caused by residual sensitizing dyes in photographic processing carried out by using an ammonium ion fixing compsn. SOLUTION: This compsn. has pH <8 and is obtained by concentrating the following components. These are (a) at least 2 mol/L a photographic fixing agent, (b) at least 5 mol/L an ammonium ion which becomes at least 60 mol.% ammonium ion concn. of the total cations in the compsn., (c) at least 0.001 mol/L triazinylstilbene and (d) a water-soluble aliphatic compound having <200 mol.wt., 2 to 10 carbon atoms, at least two amino or hydroxy functional groups, which is present in 2:1 a molar ratio to the triazinylstilbene above described in the compsn. and which stabilizes the triazinylstilbene.
