The invention concerns a process and a continuously operating press for manufacture of endless veneer laminates from a veneer panel strand assembled from several layers one over the other and one behind the other by means of gluing and pressing. The invention consists in that an application of convexly contacting compressive force is administered from above and below to the veneer panel strand from the longitudinal centre line A-A to both longitudinal sides in an air extraction intake wedge (B), whereby from the beginning of the air extraction intake wedge (I) to the end of the air extraction intake wedge (II) the convex application of compressive force steadily becomes a planar application of compressive force, and compression increases. For this purpose the continuously operating press is provided with an air extraction intake wedge (B) in the intake area of the continuously operating press (5), in which the upper and lower intake compression/heating plates (3' and 4') are convexly curved against the entering veneer panel strand (2) and the convex curvature of the intake compression/heating plates (3' and 4') from the beginning (I) to the end (II) of the air extraction intake wedge (B) can be controlled in plane in accordance with a predetermined compressive force profile through the action of an array of cylinder pistons (12). |
