PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily restart optical transmission without irradiating an obstacle with light beams for a long time or continuously when the obstacle leaves. SOLUTION: When it is detected through a reception level detecting part 125 that light is not received by a light receiving part 112 for longer than 1 sec, a fault-time light emission control part 124 controls a light emitting part 111 so as to emit light intermittently while including non-emission period longer than 1 sec. When it is detected that light is received by the light receiving part 112 while such intermittent light emission is performed, the light emitting part 111 is controlled so as to ordinarily emit light.
