PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device whose cost is low, which is compact, and witch is highly accurate. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a reflection type display element displaying a two-dimensional video on a display element surface I and a projection optical system enlarging and projecting the two-dimensional video. The projection optical system has a diaphragm SP and an eccentric optical device DL which is largely decentered between the diaphragm SP and the display element. Provided that the beam of light connecting the center of the surface I with that of the projection picture surface is the beam of light on the center of a picture,θi<10 deg., and 5 deg.<θ0<15 deg. (θi: angle formed by normal line of projection picture surface and beam of light on the center of picture,θ0: angle formed by normal line of the surface I and beam of light on the center of picture) are satisfied.
