PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnification display device capable of not only reading and magnification-displaying the types or the like of newspaper but also magnification-displaying characters or the like written on the sheet of paper or the like by a simple operation. SOLUTION: This device is composed of a photoelectric conversion unit A for which an image pickup element 1 connected to a display means such as a cathode-ray tube and a lens group 2 are integrally formed and housed in a case 3, an object unit B for read which is a first object unit provided with mirrors 5 and 5a for making a read original image incident on the lens group 2 housed in the case 6 freely attachable and detachable to/from the case 3 of the photoelectric conversion unit A and the object unit for write which is a second object unit provided with the mirrors for making the image of the character or the like written on the sheet of the paper incident on the lens group 2 housed in the case freely attachable and detachable to/from the case 3 of the photoelectric conversion unit A. In this case, two of the object unit B and the object unit for the write are selectively mounted on the photoelectric conversion unit A.
