PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of selecting a photographing operation corresponding to the experience level and photographing conditions of the camera. SOLUTION: A release button can be depress-operated to a shallowly depressed, that is, half depressed position and a further deeply depressed, that is, fully depressed position. When the release button is operated to the half depressed position, photometry and range-finding are executed and the release button is kept in the half depressed position, to obtain a waiting state for the operation to the fully depressed position. When the release button is operated to the fully depressed position as it is, the focusing of a photographic lens corresponding to a subject distance after the range-finding is executed in the half depressed position is attained. After the fact is completed, shutter blades are opened/closed. Further, when a focusing button is depress-operated in a state where the release button is kept in the half depressed position, the focusing of the photographic lens is executed without waiting for the release button to be operated to the fully depressed position. After that, when the release button is operated to the fully depressed position, photographing is attained through the photographic lens whose focusing has already been completed.
