PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure stabilized control while simplifying piping work by disposing means for stirring water in the outlet coupling pipe of a cooling tower on the upstream side of a sensor. SOLUTION: The outlet coupling pipe 16 of a cooling tower comprises a short pipe section 161 and a flange 162 and the suction end is opened to a lower water tank 15. A flange is provided for the led out outer part and fixed to the side face part of the lower water tank 15 by welding, for example. An outlet water temperature sensor 18 is fixed watertightly to the wall of the pipe 16 on the downstream side of the short pipe section 161 while projecting the temperature-sensitive part into the pipe and stirring parts Pa, Pb, Pc are disposed at a plurality of points on the upstream side of the sensor 18. Water flowing from the lower water tank 15 the outlet coupling pipe 16 while having temperature difference is stirred through stirring action of the stirring parts thus measuring temperature accurately at the temperature-sensitive part the sensor 18.
