A fishing reel comprises a casing 1 having a flange 12a, a non-rotatable spool 6, a rotatable drum 7 surrounding the spool 6, a pick-up pivotable on the drum 7, means for bringing the pick-up 16 from an inoperative to an operative position, a member 21 slidably guided in the drum 7 having an extremity for locking the pickup 16 in inoperative position by engagement with an ear 16a, and a lever 24 pivoted on the member 21, and bearing a brake shoe 26, urged towards the flange 12a by a spring 23, the slidable member 21 further bearing a cam surface 25b cooperable with a fixed stop 13 rigid with the flange 12a. With the pick-up 16 in inoperative position, the member 21 is held in a hole (19c), Figs. 2 and 5 (not shown), in the ear 16a, and the shoe 26, engaging the flange 12a, prevents free rotation of the drum 7. On turning a handle (3), Fig. 1 (not shown), to draw in line, the cam 25b engages the stop 13. being pushed radially inwards to retract the member 21. The so-disengaged pick-up 16 is returned to operative position, defined by a beak (19a) for engaging a stop (20), by a coiled spring 17. As the lever 24 retracts with the member 21, a nose 24b engages a boss 27, the lever then pivoting at 25a to withdraw the brake shoe 26. A push-button 22b allows direct release of the pick-up 16.</p> |
