PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head slider not generating the scratch, etc., on a disk-like recording medium along with obtaining the stable electromagnetic transduring characteristic, and also a magnetic head device provided therewith. SOLUTION: As to the head slider 140 provided with the magnetic heads for recording and/or reproducing a signal against the rotating disk-like recording medium, a 1st rail part 142 furnished with the 1st magnetic head 144 made usable when the contact state of the head slider against the disk-like recording medium is held and a 2nd rail part 143 furnished with the 2nd magnetic head 145 made usable when this head slider is floated to keep the specified angle against the disk-like recording medium are provided on this head slider, then the rail widths of the front parts 142a, 143a of these 1st and 2nd rail parts at the time of the rotation of the disk-like recording medium are arranged so as to be wider as compared with the rail widths of the rear parts 142b, 143b.
