WATER DISPERSIBLE POLYISOCYANATE INCLUDING ALKOXYSILANE GROUP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject polyisocyanate capable of stably being dispersed in water by introducing an alkoxysilane group through a secondary amino group. SOLUTION: This polyisocyanate is a compound having 0.2-20 wt.% isocyanate content in terms of NCO and calculated as 42 molecular weight and 0.2-4.5 wt.% alkoxysilane content in terms of Si and calculated as 28 molecular weight and having chemically incorporated hydrophilic groups capable of sufficiently forming a dispersion stable in water. The alkoxysilane is incorporated as a reaction product of (A) polyisocyanate component having 2.4 minimum average functionality and including at least 50 wt.% polyisocyanate adduct with (B) an amino compound of the formula I [each of X is an organic group inert to isocyanate at <100 deg.C and at least one of Xs is an alkoxy; R1 is an organic group inert to isocyanate at <=100 deg.C; (n) is 1-8]. The compound of formula I is e.g. N-phenylaminopropyltrimethoxysilane.
