PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a workability in assembling chip seals by forming the cross sectional shapes of the chip seals into an L shape. SOLUTION: The cross sectional shapes of chip seals 21, 23 pressed against a rotor 13 are formed into an L shape. The chip seals 21, 23 and elastic members are integrally molded. Plate springs 22, 24 are insert-molded on the chip seals 21, 23. Both the leg parts of the chip seals 21, 23 are curved to form the elastic members. Elastic members having hardness lower than that of the chip seals 21, 23 are secured to the chip seals 21, 23. The use of a flexible resin having elastic force constitutes a member for the rotor sides of the chip seals 21, 23. In the variable valve timing device, the elastic members press the chip seals 21, 23 against the case side or the rotor side. |
