PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a conventional silo as it is, and to apply the conventional silo to powder or the like where the upper surface of a remaining body to be supplied is not horizontal by injecting a fixed amount of gas that can be identified into a silo for forcibly diffusing, by measuring the concentration of the gas in the silo, and by calculating space capacity in the silo. SOLUTION: A fixed amount of gas that can be identified such as rare gas, especially argon, neon, or the like is injected into a silo. After the gas is injected, a gaseous layer is agitated by a fan and is forcibly diffused. Then, the gas in the silo is sampled, a gas chromatography or the like is used, and the concentration of the gas is measured. According to the concentration of the injection gas, the space capacity is calculated, furthermore and the space capacity is subtracted from the entire capacity of the silo thus calculating a remaining capacity of powder.
