PURPOSE: The apparatus can process an image signal whose horizontal/vertical frequency are not converted and a multiplied image input signal by judging the standard of an external image input signal. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus multiplies a horizontal/vertical frequency and converts the composition ratio of a brightness signal and a color-difference signal. The apparatus has the effect of processing the external input signal before the multiplied frequency conversion scanning type conversion without adding additional scanning type conversion apparatus, by controlling to process the signal before/after the multiplied frequency conversion scanning type conversion of the external input signal. The apparatus comprises a decoding part(201), a first multiplexor(202), a horizontal/vertical frequency conversion part(203), an analog/digital conversion part(204), a space conversion part(205), a first standard conversion part(206), a second standard conversion part(207), a second multiplexor(208) and a control part(209).
