PURPOSE: An optical setting method for a VCR is to check and amend an option content set on an OSD screen. CONSTITUTION: An optical setting method for a VCR comprises the steps of: (S100) displaying a main menu on an OSD screen by an external key input; (S101,S102) determining whether a service mode is performed among the main menu; (S103,S104) displaying the service mode screen by inputting a predetermined password when the service mode is performed; (S105-S107) displaying a certain screen according to a certain operation function selection on the service mode screen; and (S108,S109) amending an option content on the sub-screen to store the content. Therefore, since the service mode screen is displayed and the displayed content is checked, an option setting content is easily identified.
